Shocks Arrived Nitro's, Ricors ? and a JACK QUESTION

Looks sweet! I can vouch for Ninja K on the airbox removal. I installed a NARK on mine with a set of D&D's, plus rejetted the carbs. The difference is night and day...she rip-schnorts now!

:cheer::popcorn:
Rear shocks have arrived now all I have to do is remove the old ones and put the nitro shocks on. They look like decent quality shocks so lets hope the performance matches the looks. :headbang2:

I also have a question for you wise fellows with regard to the front suspension forks the ricor intimidators are they worth while and do they suit the newbonneville as my bike is a 09/10 SE? Also is it a hard specialised JOB? As you can appreciate from my last post I am now scared touching suspension?:chair:

Also can you guys recommend a jack etc that is great to use on the bonne's I think it would be a wise investment:shh:

Thanks guys and I look forward to your responses Kind Regards Ben Dickens

Hey Ben.....a small motorcycle lift for 90.00 was a great investment for me. I use it all the time. I have ricor intim and I felt they were a good modification. I am pleased with my front end compared to stock bikes. it isn't a hard job. there is a thread I believe telling you a step by step.

What is the best place to source a proper jack as all the ones I have found are the race version type and suited to sports bikes with the rear trailing arms not a bonne??? Something like a broad sissor jack would be best but I can't find em anywhere??:worthy:

I got 2 of those broad scissors jacks, they fit under the frame nicely, they have adustable lift points. Found them on ebay. Just search in tools for motorcycle jacks. With those I only lift the front or rear....I don't use both at the same time on the bike.

Hey ben, I made mine, cost not much more than $25.00

can lift front or back, depending on where it's positioned ! :)

To RINCOR Intimidators OR NOT? What are the main benefits of this upgrade and is it hard to install them?

Thanks Kind Regards Ben Dickens

Can you change the shocks by replacing one at a time without jacking up the rear end of the bike. I am asking as I need to wait a bit before I order a jack, spent tooooo much cash on house reno's and need to wait until next month. Shocks in box look sad and need to be on da bonne!

Looking forward to your wisdome gentlemen and ladies!

easy way to do it is get some timber (2 / 4) and slide it under the frame on one side ,then do the other side leaning the bike on those bits of timber so you can fit them in and slowly work you way up a bit each side at a time till the wheel is of the ground,helps if you sit on the bike and get the missus to slide the timber in as you lean it .done it this way for years (to tight to buy a lift jack lol)

Nah I may be a lot of things but I am not tight (lol), need the jack and I will buy one found one on ebay around three hundred delivered and have been doing heaps of reno's no more saving left so as soon as I get the cash I will get one it is a definate and will make life easy oiling the chain servicing etc. I have two jacks already but they are not appropriate. I got a paddock jack but its just not suited to the bonnie's!

Thanks for the help Tezza:worthy:

Hi Ben,

Quick answer - yes.

Longer answer - take the footpegs and silencers off, loosen top and bottom shock mounts. Have a mate "unload" the rear suspension by lifting the rear of the bike slightly (not off the ground). Slip off one old shock & replace with the new Nitro. Repeat on the other side. Piece of piss :)

For the Ricors, the main thing I noticed was the fork dive decreased. I ran them with an inch preload spacer and 7.5 weight oil to the recommended level. I put Ikons on the back at the same time and my main feeling was that I could do longer days before feeling beat up and I lost the kind of high speed wallowing that I used to get in bends.

Cheers and enjoy your ride,

Pikey.

Hi Ben, I've got to meet you mate, I reckon you do have TOO much money . . . $300 for a jack ?? gotta be joking !

simple as anything to swap rear shocks, set them to their least most effective setting, not sure now if it's 1 or 4 setting. then just take one off at a time, with a little wiggling & movement of the frame up & down the shock will with come off quite easily mate ! do the reverse to refit ! :cya:

But I saved my penny's to upgrade my bonne to cafe racer style with overtime shifts in the fire service. Doing that and house reno's is rather expensive so no more cash till I do some more OT. Thanks for the instruction mate we need to go on a ride are you free next week? Let me know and we could do a flinders Latte Run!!!

Hagon Nitro Shocks INSTALLED

Hi guys well I mustered up the courage to change my shocks and have done it, installed the rear Hagon Nitro Shocks today and hope to get chance to ride tomorrow at some stage to test them out. Pretty easy job but I did remove the footpegs and also the exhaust and used a torque rench as per manufacture specs 30lbs/foot. I only ran into a minor hick up when changing the peg side rear shocker. To fix this I just sat the bike up and then pulled up the rear end allowing me to house to shocker easy though. Some pics are below for your viewing pleasure, I will have to adjust the rebound and shock etc to preferance however I may like the stock settings as I am not that agressive with my riding style. Once I have gone for a ride through the turns I will let you know what I think of them. All the best and thank you all for your help and assistance with my mods your knowledge and advice has been a god send cheers. I am currently looking at a front damper norman hyde type but have to wait for the cash!!!!

Kind Regards Benjamin Dickens:cheer::wave::up::vp::australia::cheers:

Well guys went for a scoot today and what a difference being night and day with regard to the shocks. I have made no adjustments yet and they seem perfect you can adjust pre-load and also rebound if required. I might have a play at some stage and set them midway to see the difference, but I am very happy. On a unrelated matter I have come across a very useful tool to those of us new to the bike world to improve and develope our riding skills. Its a video called twist of the wrist 2 it also comes in a book form and I have also ordered this. It explains everything from throttle control, line entry, emergency actions, and everything else related to riding and after watching on just after two rides I can ride faster and more confident. It is targeted to both the road rider and competition rider, just thought I would let you guys know its well worth a look.

Kindest regards Benjamin Dickens

Search Ebay or Amazon for a original copy but a downloadable version is available on www.btjunkie.org,(but you need to download utorrent downloader first) there ya go sportyone it well worth a look mate
