    Amal Carbs

Simple question has anyone installed mark 2 Amals on a hinkley twin? Just for giggles and grins I suspect a 36mm smooth bore would drop on. http://amalcarb.co.uk/mk-ii-concentric-series/smoothbore/base-line-specifications/36mm-bore/lh-36mm-4-stroke-mk-ii-smoothbore-carburettor.html Then a...

    removing rear disc

Any one know if the socket heads are some bastard size? I managed to get two undone with a large tommy bar on an allen key but the socket was starting to chew up. The other two are starting to rip before the bolt comes out. This is the first time they have been removed. The two I have out seem...

    I think I'm finished

I got the TABaker fitted at the weekend, shortened the seat and test rode it. I was all ok until the wife said, so whats next? I'm done, finished, no further ideas, I need to clean up the electrics under the seat and maybe get the seat proffesional upholstered but nothing significant. What do...

Thruxton fork caps on a Bonnie

Can anyone tell me if this is a straight swap? The reason I ask is that I want to swap them on my two bikes. The thruxton has been revalved and resprung but its too firm for day to day riding and the adjuster is wound all the way out. The bonnie could do with a bit of preload. So it should...

    Lithium Batteries

Anyone used anything like this before? I was going to place my battery in the seat hump of the Thruxton but this looks small enough to lose under the seat without modification. I have 'lost' my airbox and have a small battery box mounted between the shock top mounts but I want to get rid of...

New Norton- any real world reviews?

Yes I know this is the Triumph forum but there is a rumour that the Commandos are going to be available in Oz some time in the not too distant future. I cannot find any thing on the web that does appear to be an infomercial placed by Norton or the MCN video. Does anyone know of anyone who has...

    Front Hub clear coat

Hi all, I have what looks like worm marks in the clear coat on my front hub. The bike is still inside the two year warranty period. Has anyone successfully claimed for this on warranty or I am I just being fussy and should learn to live with it? Bikes a 50th Anniversary Bonnie and it is...

Arrow high level pipe on Bonnie

Hi, has anyone succesfully installed an Arrow or similar high level pipe onto a bonnie or thrux? I am aware that the scramblers have a rear bracket welded to the frame but has anyone come up with a work around or utilised the threaded holes on the rear of the frame? I dont have side panels...

    Billet front caliper

I just wanted to share a positive experience with a supplier, Harrison Billet (www.billet.co.uk) I ordered a caliper and it was shipped within 48 hours. I looks great, it came with a selection of shims to centre it over the disc and was a quick and easy fit. It would have been easier if I...

    Rear Brake

I wore down a set of rear brake pads to the metal and scoured the disc. The second set of pads have worn out in 1500kms’ so a) Does anyone know the minimum thickness that the discs can be taken to, so I can get them refaced? b) Does anyone do an after market disc that doesn’t cost any more...

    Rear sets

I have seen the Discatties (sp?) and it appears Norman Hyde makes some, but its not clear if the will fit a Thrux or if they are for Bonnies. (Regardless I think they look basic and lumpy). Are there any other options on the market? A contact would help along with any feed back on quality...

    Common as muck

Queensland 59th celebration for the Bonnie had 6 50th Anniversary bonnies, I got a picture of 4 then 5 but the 6th one showed up on a trailer then disappeared. But 5 in a row made it the commonest model there. Skiddy

EFI V Carbs a personnel opinion

I am lucky enough to own an 08 carbed Thruxton and a new EFI bonnie. Use is normally dictated by whether I need to drop my daughter off at the station in which case the dual seat bonnie is used. They are both recently serviced and I ride them back to back for my daily commute to work. The EFI...

    Swept Back headers

I am planning to have made a set of swept back headers made in stainless for my Thruxton, primary motivation is looks, that Goldstar, triton look. I will reuse the staintune cans I have, as I think they look good and I like the sound. The question is should I go for a balance pipe under the...

    Lowered Thrux Clocks

I have an LSL top yoke and mounted the stock gauge mounts on the bottom of the yoke. This dropped the clocks about 40mm. To give space over the headlamp I had to swap over the headlamp brackets which drop the light a lesser amount but tightened the whole area up. Skiddy Bisbane
