Looks like I've got a carb problem

I nearly bought the Motion Pro tool you mentioned, but liked the idea of having no mysterious fluids to spill or evaporate while not in use. Compared to its Tiger 800 stablemate, the Bonneville is truly a piece of cake to work on; pretty much instant gratification.

Looks like I've got a carb problem

Update... Well, I got industrious the other day and ordered a carb synch gadget and a fresh set of spark plugs. Dug out the feeler gauges etc and went to work. Valve clearances were still all within spec, so once everything was back together, the bike got fresh plugs and a stern...

Looks like I've got a carb problem

Synch, huh? Guess I'll be learning how to do that. As for the full load balance testing, after spending several minutes doing exhaustive scientifical ree-surch, I've designed a system using an outboard motor trolling plate, clamped to each muffler, operated by a cable. The rider could then...

Looks like I've got a carb problem

A completely unscientific observation here: Last week I put my 2007 T100 on the lift table to change fork oil (yecch! I waited too long again!) and install a new front tire. Finished with those chores, I started the engine and warmed it up, thinking I'd change engine oil while I was at it...

    Memorial Day 2014

Late last fall I stumbled across a site called World War 2 Today, a daily record of events during that war, and have been following it ever since. Some of the stories are astonishing, others shocking. The things those guys (and gals) went through...My helmet's off to veterans everywhere...

    how to spend my money?

If you can retire early, by all means do it. I'm 57 and just retired more or less accidentally-the construction business in central Orygun pretty much shut down back in '09. We held on for a while, laying off employees and scraping by on half pay when there was any work. Finally had...

    HF bike table lifts

Got mine four years ago; traded it for a GPS. It's worked fine, and is currently in use holding the Tiger 800 while it's being prepped for next summer's trip to Alaska, etc. For the money, it was impossible to beat.

Trading the Bonnie for a Tiger

Bought my T100 new in '07, then, looking for some variety, added a DL650 two years later. Traded the DL in on a new Tiger 800 Roadie, which I really enjoy. The Bonneville is a keeper, though. It will pull away from a stop at just above idle, while the Tiger with its more sport bike-inspired...

    Is this a Leak?

Nope, it's just chain lube drooling out from behind that cover. Wipe it up with a little "Mung-be-Gone"

Ooooh! Never thought of Oreos as targets. Do they explode decently?

What is the best tire make and size combination ?

And while we're at it, is there any reason not to use radials at both ends? I'm currently running Tourances in stock sizes, bias ply front and radial at the rear. Since these will need to be replaced this summer, is there any benefit or harm in changing the front to radial also?

    Been thinking..

Have you looked at one of the new Tiger 800's? Just bought the road model and am really enjoying it. Goodbye Wee-Strom. I'll be keeping my T100 though.

    Ford Powerstoke opinions

My company pickup is a '97 F250 four-wheel drive with the 7.3 engine and automatic. Currently at 364,000 miles and driven daily. It still has the original injectors, but has had the fuel pressure regulator and glow plugs replaced, along with a starter or two. It uses no oil between changes...

    Time to hit the DMV

Mostly a pain in the ass Too few knowledgeable clerks on duty; most seem to be enjoying a long break. The routine stuff usually goes well if you have all your paperwork (get there early!!). Orygun is gradually putting stuff like normal renewals online, thank you. One thing that pisses me...

    Best modification

After Orygun went to the ethanol blended crap gasoline, I changed to the 19 tooth and regained most of the lost MPG. Getting 44-50 MPG again.

Official Photo Of The Triumph's All-new Tiger Dirt Bike:

Actually, I'm giving that some thought. After just completing a valve clearance adjustment, (which required removing most of the plastic bodywork, the radiator, and rear wheel), I was tempted to push my Strom out to the highway and place a "Free to good home" sign on it. The Tiger 800 is...

    Doggie prison break.

Isn't it funny how some dogs have an insane urge to run and wander, but others don't? My last one was a second-hand golden retriever, who absolutely hated being confined, but once he learned his boundaries, never wandered further than the neighbor's place, and spent the rest of his days on an...

    Sidestand&Neutral switch

Seems like there was a thread here a while back that discussed removing and cleaning the grime and moisture out of it. There's a plunger that operates a small microswitch inside. I mainly removed mine as a preventive measure after having one on my dualsport bike fail, many miles from home.

    Sidestand&Neutral switch

I disconnected my side stand switch about a year ago. Seems like I just spliced two wires together where they come out of a connector under the left side cover.

    Age, Health, Injuries

55 here, never worried much about taking care of myself, and am now paying for it. Arthritic since age 15, have had a variety of orthopedic surgery including a knee replacement and a couple of spinal fusions. My doctor is bitching at me about hypertension and blood sugar levels. Shit...

How do you use your bike?

I don't commute on mine (got the company pickup for that), so it's strictly for fun. Day trips exploring rural two-lane roads, forest roads, small towns, sometimes just an afternoon romp. It's been a great bike to take camping, too. I've done lots of overnight trips on it and one week long tour.
