You got it right slowgator. I'm sure Triumph knows what they're doing marketwise. It surely isn't anything that will take away from the Bonneville market (as attested to by previous posts here), but the appeal of the Bonnie isn't straight flat roads that stretch on for far too long.
Last year I spent a lot of day's riding to and from work with a Harley rider (Sportster with highway pegs) he asked me, "what do you do to get over all the bumps in the road?" Well I just stand on the pegs a little to get my ass off the seat. Poor dude has to just sit there and take it. But he does look cool sittin' back there with his legs splayed out there like he was home in his recliner. Until the next bump comes he can't get around.
Like they say different strokes for different folks and their sure a lot of cruisers up here even in the northern Tundra. Triumph will never crack the diehard Harley people but there are new riders born everyday and with so many long flat (boring) roads that seem to stretch on forever.... well, you do the math.
