Just makin some gator jaw knives for an upcoming Fur Trading Rendezvous.
These are from the lower jaw of the Florida Alligator. The smaller ones are about 5-6 inches long and the large ones 12-15 inches long. The tooth holes are filled with powdered turquoise and buffed to a mirror finish. These knives can be sharpened to a razor edge. They were used by the Timucuan Indians from the coastal area of Florida and Georgia in the 15-16 century and some are believed to be used by the Seminole tribes.
