flipping piggyback shocks

I have a set of ZRX shocks and, in order to give me more room for indicators and luggage, I flipped them so the reservoir is in the front like this. I've seen it before so I'm assuming it'll work, but I had a buddy mention that you always want the reservoir be at the highest point. . . or maybe he was just talking about the brake fluid.

anyone have an opinion?

I have my resevoirs on the up position facing the front of the bike because of my saddlebag supports. Shocks seem to be working fine
