Thanks Stroke and I agree but it is only from the kind people of this Forum that give freely of what they know. The real payback is for me to carry this generous gift and give back freely that which was freely given to me!Hedge…..you are really making great progress…..and think about the engine/knowledge/education you are getting……"press on"….

Hi Doc - Everything is disassembled except the Crank and transmission are still laying in the top of the case. All appears to look good but need a more experienced 2nd set of eyes on this.does triumph offer oversized crank and rod bearings?
I know they offer bearings of different sizes to compensate for manufacturing variances.
are barrels off yet?
Doc - the crank rotates, the rods rock on pins, the rings look brand new the whole upper part of the engine looks flawless but again I'm not an expert.so the pistons were not seized, can you rotate the crank yet? do the rods rock on the crank pins? the suspense is killing me
My aircraft mechanics always use STP engine oil treatment to lubricate bearings on engine assembly. It is also great for installing difficult hoses. It is thick, sticks on and is VERY slippery.

Thanks for confirming what I thought Doc. So instead of Motor oil how about STP and Moly mix?or asembly lube but the moly grease, motor oil mix works very well; and it's cheap
Gottcha - and thanks. Lets talk later on this afternoon or tonight if you have time.the moly mix needs to lube the bearings only for as long as it takes the oil to reach them, then the pressurized oil washes out the mix and supports the cams/crank.
the moly grease is very slick, sticky and thin
I don't know how easily STP would wash out
I'm not a fan of substituting
Thanks Rip - one way or the other this bike will run again and run right! I am bringing everything to a specialist for inspection tomorrow morning and he will determine what and if there is extensive damage and what I need to to do for the next step. I will report back tomorrow night. While I am sad to hear of your engine issue, this thread is awesome and so full of detail! I'm watching and keeping my fingers crossed that your get your bike up and running again soon!
Bringing it all down to be inspected tomorrow morning my man! Top half, Bottom half, cylinders and headthe crank "loosened up" and was able to be turned as the crankcase bolts were loossened, does this indicate a main bearing problem? I suspect it does as I doubt the entire crankcase has warped
the rod big end bearings need a good looking at too
