It's nothing too elaborate, but it's my first tattoo thus far (which is located on my left deltoid). This is right after we were done.
So what does it sat, you ask? I am and always have been a huge fan (read: nut, dork, geek, etc.) of
The Lord of the Rings. It says "Law pain i reviar mistar aen" which is Sindarin (the language of the Grey Elves that Tolkien created) for "Not all those who wander are lost." It's one of my favorite sayings from one of my favorite poems:
"The Riddle of Strider"
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king
(from The Fellowship of the Ring, "Strider")
(Note: the poem first shows up in a letter Gandalf writes to Frodo regarding Strider, aka Aragorn). Yeah, I know I'm a Tolkien dork. But what better for a Tolkien dork than an Elvish tattoo!
