Seized Cable question

I have a cable on a different bike that is seized-can't find a replacement and tried everything. I was thinking I would put it in a ziplock and soak the whole cable. What can I use instead of a whole can of WD-40? Any ideas?

thanks

Maybe try hanging the cable up with a plastic bag taped like a funnel at the upper end. Just put a small amount of motor oil in the bag and check after awhile to see if its working its way down the inner cable. Thats the way they used to lubricate control cables in the old days. The procedure is right in my old BSA shop manuals. Might work, who knows.

Hey there Whyme,
do you know why it has seized? Why I ask is that sometimes the 2nd inner, the spiralled flat wire can have a burr or snag rubbing onto the inner wire. I had one like this once, oiled it up, it was working, put it back on bike, and it broke going down the road. Just a thought?

yeah...don't know, but I'm soaking it now. I think I have found a replacement cable that my work...so this may be all for naught.
