Quite a year so far

I found out early this year that we are having our first baby in September and then a month ago found out that I have a form of leukemia call cll, good news is that I have no symptoms other than just a little tired and that it shouldn't cause a problem for quite some time and may possibly not be a problem at all, just getting my head wrapped around the thought has been tough. All of the stuff going on has made it a late start to the riding season but I just got my tags for the Triumph and feel the riding coming on soon.

IceSeven........hang in.....the baby will cure you of any ills. I 1992 some asshole specialist after a few testa at the Mayo in Jacksonville Florida told me I had LUPUS. Basically told me over the desk.....handed me a pamphlet and said he was busy. I read up about LUPUS and shit. Then I had 3 other opinions from specialists in Miami, Houston TX and Atlanta. The Texas doctor did a whole heap of other tests and bottom line I had candida and epstien bar the symptoms mimicked LUPUS. Its 2010 and I'm healthy as a fox....2 daughters a great wife and a bonneville later and here we are.
Not trying to sound like I'm lecturing....but get other opinions.....concentrate on the baby and wife and go for a ride.
Press on..........

Congratulations on the happy news! Welcome to the world of fatherhood.

And what LMT said, hang in there and get other opinions. Have you noticed that very few auto mechanics know how to diagnose a problem with your car anymore? They aren't craftsmen, they just plug the car into the computer and do whatever the computer tells them to do. Anything beyond that baffles them. Likewise most doctors don't practice the "art of healing" anymore, they just read the results of a few tests and make the most common diagnosis. Don't be surprised if it turns out to be something else altogether. And congratulations again!!

KingBear.....right on.....doctors have the same problems issues families and lives just like we all do. A few are close to perfect and most make mistakes just like everyone else in the world.
ICE....btw....When u get a second opinion don't take the first opinion file with you. Just re describe your symptoms and let the new guy make up his own mind.
Press on.....

That is so true stroker, I've done it quite a bit actually and sometimes it's the same but every now and then you can make major changes just from a different opinion.
For instance, I had a cardiologist who, when I got a second opinion, was actually overdosing me on BP meds causing multiple symptoms of nausea and other complications. The second doc took me off 7 of the meds he had prescribed and i felt like I was alive again!
Moral...yes, get a second opinion if you even have the slightest doubt you're not on the right track. It never hurts to get a different p.o.v.

Focus on the positive Iceseven.

My sister-in-law was diagnosed with Leukemia (don't know exact type) a few years back. She went through chemotherapy, we had a benefit for her at a local bar to help raise money for bills incurred, she made amends with people she felt she had wronged in some way... it was all very sad.

Then, it all cleared up. Now, she's back to her old feisty self (although a bit more appreciative of those around her). No cancer in sight and I'm afraid we're gonna have to put up with her for quite awhile yet. :D

Cogratulations on the future member of the household, focus on the positive, and get out there and RIDE!

You'll be fine ICE.Hold the baby:mad2:,teach it how to nurse properly:boobeyes:,ride your bike:motorbike2: and get 2nd,3rd and 4th opinions:stfu:.Most doctors are good, caring people, but can't see past their pet malady. 09 was my "year to remember" and every doctor we saw diagnosed something different.Just keep going to different ones until you get a diagnoses you like, then run with it..:fight:
