Ditto Walmart on the Supertech filters. I went in to every WalMart we had in town and bought them all out. I now have a box full of them. Cost you ask....$2.13 each.

Walmart Supertech filters are hard to beat. Just be sure to get the short one and not the one that sticks down. The ST filter closest in length to the factory filter is:
ST-6607.
As to oil, this is highly contentious subject. :) My view is the white jug dino Rotella with stout additive package maybe better than the blue Rotella Group III syn for shear. You don't want the benefit of nth degree lubricity that full syn offers in a wet clutch motor. This is based upon extensive reading and testing. No foul in going with Mobil 1 4T Racing oil of course but almost 3X's the price. Also Mobil 1 V-twin is virtually the same stuff as 4T.
HTH.

.....or modify a bash plate to accomodate the extra length.

Thanks for the other part number.
