pull the cams and check the bearing surfaces
don't forget to lock the split gear in place
the crank main and big end bearings also need oil at pressure to stay alive and I woud expect damage to both. I don't know if Triumph sells oversized big end bearigns
the crank journals would need to be cut

Yo are correct but both failed and both plastic gear drives melted. I have to believe that even though both failed somehow either the small pump or larger pump still scavenged some oil up or the top end would have been the first to go - no?


It's really hard to say what took place as every failure would have unique circumstances but that 's as good a guess as any.

Engine is out! Pictures to come tomorrow. Everything looks really good but not sure why I cannot crank engine over with socket a breaker bar
