this morning 's paper carries a story of an ex motorcycle gang member who has done prison time, quit his job at 55, gambled away his retirement at the local casinos and is now supported by the state in free "elderly housing" free medicaid insurance, free meals at the senior center.
so kids the moral of the story is waste your youth, be an irresponsible bum and the sytem will support you

If you want an honest answer to that question, this forum will erupt in havoc and I am sure the Dude would not appreciate the extra work of banning and moderating said mess. :rocket:

However, I am thinking that you already know the answer to that question.

So, we ride on.

Yeah .. pretty much. While I'm just as angry about the sad shape of my beloved country and how absolutely retarded society is becoming .. this will for sure turn into a political shit show of a thread .. so let's not have that here.

Guess it's different there than in tx. They do have some Medicaid housing but it is usu limited to a bed or two in a facility. That's if the facility chooses to even have them. By elderly facility I'm assuming you mean assisted living or higher level of care. I looked into it before. Not an easy thing to get and there is usu a waiting list. Luckily my father's retirement from the service could pay for a group home in a real house with in house care. If you are in the middle and don't make enough to pay for a place but make too much to qualify for Medicaid you are kinda screwed.

For a second I thought you just described my brother-in-law. He fit the thread title perfectly. Not sure were the entitlement attitude comes from.

But I'm doing my best to get my kids to understand that it takes hard work to make it in life and so far their getting the message.
