Endorsements transfer question

OK I currently have M and Q endorsements on my license. M is obviously motorcycle and Q is for Fire Trucks all Fire apparatus etc. If I move to a different state do both endorsements transfer equally, or is this dependent on a state by state basis? Anyone experience this?

When I moved to Colorado they just transfered the endorsement for a small fee, I would think that is typical throughout the states.

Not sure what state you're moving to but I would check their Secretary of State or DMV web sites. Here's Illinois

My "M" endorsement transfered from KS to OK without hassle.

The M class should transfer no problem, but you usually have to ask for it. As for your "Q" - that varies from state to state and you will need to consult with the whatever state Dept of Driver Services you intend to relocate.

I think my "M' endorsement was grandfathered, but I had to retake my hazmat and now with homeland security...... I believe you should be prepared to take a test.

When I moved to New Jersey I had to take a written test to transfer the
M endorsement.
