Did away with the specimen jar brake reservoir - CHEAP!

Got tired of looking at the specimen jar and decided to take matters into my own hands. Here's the deal:

Got "Liquid Mask" at the hobby shop. Brushed it into the recess where the fluid level marks are.

Painted the reservoir black.

Peeled the masking material out so I have a place to check fluid level.

DONE!

Total cost:
Liquid mask - $7.00
Cheap paint brush - $2.00
Black spray paint - $5.00
Fresh brake fluid - $3.00
TOTAL COST = $17.00

It's not perfect - I have a little touch up work to do with a Sharpie. But for $17.00 I can live with it, and I don't have to look at that damn pee cup any more!

Well done! That looks good GC. I hate the stock reservoir too. I finally pulled the trigger on a Rizoma fluid reservoir. Patiently watched ebay until I got one a couple of weeks ago. So far so good. It holds about 3/4 of the amount of fluid the stock one held.

I bit the bullet and bought the pricy one:

The main reason I went for it was to get rid of that silly little hose. The reservoir holds about a thimble full of fluid, but it appears to be enough. I can't see the level change when I use the brake.

I see Triumph have finally brought out an anodized alternative:

No price yet.
Pity they don't have a lest exposed and more integrated one like that on the Bonnie T100.

PS I see that the link does not connect you directly to the page.
So you need to choose "Scrambler" and then "Anodized".

I have the Triumph anodized reservoir on my Scrambler and I think it looks good.

$67 shipping included from MADSS. To me it was worth it. Not knocking gcrider's obviously more economical solution at all, but I do like the one I bought.

If memory serves me right the one Pokeyjoe and I have
is three times the price and holds less fluid.
:T

For once a Triumph aftermarket part appears good value! :lol2:

If you have the time and inclination can you post a pic?
As the Triumph one is horribly small.

Here are pics of the res I have. I will snap some pics of it mounted on my bike and post them up for Monday. That warning sticker in the middle peels right off so all that is left on top is 2 Triumph logos. It looks good.

Looks Good.
First piece of aftermarket Triumph kit that looks "Quality".
Appreciate the post as the res I have is a little small for my 6-pot caliper
and this looks like the answer.
Would be interested in the mounted pix.
Cheers

Hey man, I see you have what look like the Bellacorse bars I just fitted and it seems the throttle cables are too short now. Did you have that issue?

Those were XS 650 bars and the cables were just barely long enough. They've since been replaced with Tiger bars and there are no issues there at all.
