Bikes in Cemeterys?

So this has been my project over the Winter. Posting where my ancestors are buried, recent and a long time ago on Findagrave.com. It's been an experience and all started by my brother who wants to explore his roots, which are mine. I started researching a long time ago, before the internet. Oddly enough I have been contacted about three times regarding what I have posted. So now I have a project of going out to a gravesite here in The Mile Hi to take pictures of a couple of headstones. I want to ride the Bonnie but would it be disrespectful?

I don't think so, but need some input.

I think that if your bike isn't obnoxiously loud and your not speeding you should be fine. Also be aware if services are being held and if you have to pass them just coast by.

When I saw the title of this thread I expected to see pictures of motorcycles being buried.

But after reading, I agree with the others, go for it, just be respectful of any service in progress.

Absolutely no disrespect. First, don't think the loved ones there are to sensitive to sounds. Secondly, I believe anyone close to you would be happy you are doing something you like.

That's not disrespectful at all. Ride it.

BTW - my brother-n-law has the same hobby. He helped document my geneolgy - about 12 generations worth. This might be of help for you - www.findagrave.com

I got back to 1748 or so on one side of the family. What amazes me is there's people out there who just go to an old cemetery and just start snapping photos of the headstones and posting them. It's awesome for somebody to do that.

Ive gone through lots of old graveyards and tried to find the interesting headstones,Ive never encountered a service i dont think. I dont think Ive ever felt like I was disturbing the inhabitants but you shouldnt haul ass around the place

I've been in and seen many funeral processions escorted by motorcycles. Nobody seems to complain about that. I give it a thumbs up.

You should be fine as long as you act respectful while you're there.

Maybe slightly off topic and definitely well know to most, but Hunter S. Thompson sums it up nicely with this bit of wisdom:

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!"

Hope that sentiment is applied to me when Big G calls my number. I'm trying.... ;)

Cheers,

If I'm out riding in the countryside and want to stop for a break or a smoke, I'll look for a cemetery. Of course I stay clear of any services or other visitors, but I like walking around and reading some of the names and dates. On a purely metaphysical level, it's relaxing and in no way disrespectful. Field strip your butts, though...

Buried my brother in 71 and my dad in 2009, both in the same veterans section. Visit both often, usually on my bike. Craig
