Thanks D-9. Here's some pics of my day. Still syc'd.

I'm on the claret and silver bonnie (I need rear sets bad). Yarold is on the black T100. His wife Anita is on the Beemer. We were all 1st timers. The blue 675 was Jason and the other one is of an interesting riding style observed at the track. We decided not to try that one.

Hey, great pics - looks like you guys had a blast!! You look a whole
lot better than I did my first time out, leaning it way over... good on ya. The relationship
between you and your bike has now been irrevocably altered :D
Rearsets are a MUST if you're tracking the Bonneville. Looking forward
to more track day pics... what tire pressure did you end up running?

Nice pics. Everyone should get on the track. Nothing teaches you more about you and your bike. It's the most fun anyone can have on two wheels.

Yes it was a blast and yes I will do it again. Gotta start saving for rearsets, shocks, front springs and my own leathers.

I drag the pegs all the time on freeway on ramps and backroads so it didn't take me long to get up to speed on the track. By the third session I was pushing some of the sportbike guys through the turns in novice and got my wrist slapped for a pass because they said I was a little to close to the other bike. I definitely need to work on my riding position. Getting off the bike more in the turns and also keeping my line.

I think I was at 32psi front and rear. The first turn was a long 70 mph left hand sweeper and when I was really cranking out of it I would get some back end wiggle like I do on the street when my tire pressure is too low. Could partially be due to the stock shocks maybe too.

Anyhow, the hook is firmly set.

Only takes one track day to get hooked.
Like D9 said, we run about 28 psi. front and rear. Especially if it's a warm day that pressure goes up pretty fast. Too high and cold tires and track make a bad combination. Besides rear sets, we went to Thruxton length shocks that helped too. Besides everything you mentioned, I'd think about frame and bar end sliders. Those and stripping whatever you can off the bike could save you just in case.

Just did a Track Day here in Western Australia yesterday, air tem 41 C and track temp 52 -56 c. Yep, that is pretty hot. My Sport Demons held up pretty well considering.

What is the typical cost to go out and do a track day back in the states?

Down here in the South it's typically $200 to $300, although one of the tracks runs $99 Mondays after race weekends so that's a pretty good deal.

At our local track it's about $130.00 per day. That usually gets you eight 20 minute sessions. That is unless the sessions are cut short or delayed due to crashes.

Damn, that's cheap wish they did them like that by me.

Looks like you had a blast! The Sport Demons are a great tire, they just wouldn't hold up on the street for me.
