    Thruxton Back on the Road

Here are a couple of pics. I have to upload a few more. These are of the finished FEK with the plate mounted under the tailsection and yes, there are plate lights to illuminate the plate and a cop looked it over and said it was all ok. I also went through the Ohio Revised Code and couldn't...

    Thruxton Back on the Road

Well, it's been almost a year since I nearly totalled my bike. I was lucky that all the suspension and frame was not bent or twisted in anyway. All the damage was cosmetic. The side covers were gouged, exhaust pipes smashed in, headlight assembly broken in many peices, rear fender dented...

Had accident, need new parts, Where to get them??

again, sorry to hear about the accident and again, glad to hear that you are ok. I had a nice wreck last year (nearly became a hood orniment). My bike suffered lots of cosmetic damage nearly to the point where I was thinking of totaling the bike. Then I had the bad news that my Insurance...

    1st Project

how's that Flaco ;) ? Speed thanks for the words. Stroker I'll have to send him a pm soon. I was thinking about the Busa engine but there is just too much stuff that would need to be done to get it to work. I think keeping it simle is the way to go for now. I'm really hoping the F3...

    1st Project

well... after reading some of the great posts of peoples projects I've been inspired to rebuild my Thruxton after a nearly fatal headon collision that I avoided (some ahole decided to pass a stalled pickup on a hill w/a blind curve). unfrotunately the bike is in pretty bad shape and I was able...

    Veypor Digital Speedo and Tach

the tab on the speedo gear broke. The gear is totally useless. the speedo itself works just fine. The Tach is also working just fine. I want to try this and see how I like it. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for all the input. Randy

    Veypor Digital Speedo and Tach

well since my speedo decided to take a permanent vacation I have been going back and forth between the Digital Veypor unit vs the stock speedo gear (that's what broke) they are both the same price and whe I ordered the factory unit it was on a worldwide backorder. So I cancelled the order and...

Fuel range on "ON" and "RES"

Bikebits, Are you going to be riding up the James Bay Road on your way up to Labrador? It's a 600+ km drive from Matagami Quebec to Radisson where LG 1 & 2 are. Between the two towns is one service station @ km marker 381. It's a pretty remote and desolate area. I've driven up there three...

3th Mod - Bafflectomy - Installed a 2001 exhaust and removed the silencer

Is there any power increase or is it just louder?

    Homemade things to my Thruxton!

They look good and sound down right scary. Wish I had the skills to do something like that. I instead made a "baffle" after I took the pipes off and it's about as quiet as your pipes at idle and just as loud with the throttle open but the sound isn't as deep. Awesome dude.

    Recall

Are they only certain VIN numbers? I've never received any notification in the mail yet. I'll have to speak w/my dealer. I have to go there anyways to pick up a filter.

    It's Fixed!!!

Remember the front end heebeejeebeez? I was riding on one of our nicer days here in OH and I felt a very, very small "klunk" in the bars. I bought the triumph wrenches and adjusted the steering head bearings. Took it out on a test ride and the shimmy is gone. The bike feels much tighter...

    It's Fixed!!!

The wrenches came in the mail from Triumph and the bearing preload was set and retaining nut torqued to specs per the Haynes manual. I took the bike out in our frigid weather around the block and the wobble is gone!

Tool For Adjusting Steering Head Bearings

I thought I'd let everyone know that the two wrenches from my Triumph dealer are $26.95 each. I should be finished sometime next week after the tools are mailed out. Now what mod should I do? I'm torn between the Specialty Spares and the D&D full race exhausts and whether or not I...

The open end needs to be 38mm. But thanks a ton for the link. Randy

Tool For Adjusting Steering Head Bearings

OK after some checking and test riding around the block I felt a "clunk" in the bars for the first time. It seems to me that the steering head bearings may need an adjustment. I've searched the web for the 38mm spanner wrenches w/o success. Does anyone know a source besides the dealer where I...

    Front End Hebejeebies

Blackson, None of the stuff occurs what you are describing. When I'm riding with both hands/one hand on the bar I do not feel any type of ossilation in the bars, no other type of vibration. I'm getting ready to hit the sack since I work tonight. Again, thanks for the well informed...

    Front End Hebejeebies

There is no uneven tire wear. The front spins true. From what I can gather the steering head is tight (but I'll need another body to really check it). My guesses are, and in no particular order 1) wheelbearings need adjustment 2) steering head loose 3) rear wheel out of alignment 4)...
