    Ride to the Wilderness

Got out this afternoon, gained a few thousand feet up in the Cascades near the Henry M. Jackson Wilderness, not far from home. Lost about 20 degrees. Great ride, paved and unpaved. No snow this time! The warm weather over the past few weeks cleared the road! I sure like...

Rode with the sport bikes again!

Thanks guys - it's always fun riding with that group. There's a few guys who are there every week, all season long, while others like me come and go. Good fun!

    cams?

How many miles do you think could be on a Triumph twin motor, and still just pop in these high-compression pistons? Could it be done on a motor with say 12,000 - 20,000 miles? Or would that many miles make the cylinders too worn for those pistons to drop in?

    Making Scrambler Faster

I was pretty unhappy with the power level from my Scrambler for a while. Did just a little intake & exhaust work, and had it tuned nicely. Picked up some suds, and also came to terms with the fact that it's not a 140 hp 4-cylinder Japanese bike. It runs great. Reliable as a stone. Frisky...

First time "off road" for new Scrambler

I've thoroughly enjoyed riding my Scram at highway speeds somewhere, then simply turning off, onto a dirt road that heads who-knows-where... Well ridden and at a sane pace, the Scram does just fine off-pavement.

    Making Scrambler Faster

I agree with Speed3Chris - it's easy and relatively inexpensive to pick up a little power with intake & exhaust mods. To build serious power though, seems to take high compression pistons, big bore kits of one kind or another, cams and bigger carbs. All of which adds up to literally thousands...

    Resale value on a Scrambler

Of course if you just want to go ride "some dirt trails" there are better bikes for that, for a lot less money... Even my son's 28 year old XT250 makes the Scram seem like an overweight whale, badly out of place on modestly difficult dirt roads and trails. His cost? $700 and some new...

    The Creamsicle Disowned Me!

Oh yeah! That little bike looks FUN! When I did my tours in Okinawa, it was very common for the servicemen to buy a used Japanese car from a serviceman about to end his tour. Get it inspected, do a little maintenance on it, drive it while stationed there, and sell it to someone else when...

    Scrambler in the mountains

Thanks guys! All that land is National Forest land, where one can roam free. Camp, hike, fish, hunt, ride the motorcycle... The northwest has an incredible amount of this public land. Means I "need" a motorcycle that is at least competent on dirt & gravel roads! The Scrambler does just fine...

Triumph's retro Scrambler exudes '60s cool

Thanks for posting that. Nice write-up on the Scram. I'd have to agree with it, although mine is a 2006. Regards, Guy

    Scrambler in the mountains

I dropped it solo. She's just asking "What were you thinking?" As often is the case, I wasn't. Took me one good shove to right the bike, then pushed it the rest of the way through the snow bank. Took a clue, turned around and headed back down. We ALMOST made it to the top of the ridge... Ah...

    Scrambler in the mountains

Up in the Cascades again yesterday with my wife who has pronounced the MCResources backrest the best thing I've added to my Triumph, other than her! We got tooooo close to two bears, a big cinnamon colored bear ran across the road in front of us and a bigger blonde & brown colored bear was...

    Two-up adventure ride - Cascades

A few photos from our ride today. My wife and I started riding together 30 years ago and are still at it: Scramblers take to the mountains and look good there: Most of the time... Got the bike out of the snow and back on dirt where it belongs: Then finished our ride through...

    Power without the noise?

Oh yeah - they're in place... One fell out during a ride, Brent at New Bonneville sent a replacement quickly. I like the sound, but am seriously considering going back to my stock pipes for the silence...

    Power without the noise?

Can the Triumph twins produce decent power with the stock exhaust in place? Although I enjoy the sound of my Norman Hyde "silencers" others do not. There's a growing backlash in my community about noisy bikes, and laws already on the books here in Washington that make it illegal to modify...

    protective gear?

I bounce around on this gear stuff. Sometimes I look like the ATGATT poster boy. Other times it's just boots, jeans, shirt, vest or the old leather jacket, gloves and helmet. Seems most of my shorter/local rides favor the jeans & leather jacket, while most of my longer trips see me in textile...

    MC Resources back rest/rack

The more I live with it, the better I like it. Reminds me of the looks of all those bikes me and my buddies rode 30 - 35 years ago. Most of our street bikes had a sissy bar/rack/rest of some sort on the back. Useful things, and I can put up with the looks. Here's a photo from a couple of days...

    110 miles in the Cascades

My son, his best buddy and I all hopped on our bikes and headed out for a half day of riding through some absolutely beautiful country. I didn't stop to take a lot of photos along the way - was having way too much fun riding with the young guys on their sport bikes. The weather and roads were...
