LSL Clip-On Eliminator Kit 2004-2007 Thruxton

I've had one for about 4 years, nice piece of kit. It does what it says on the tin. The risers are a bit short if you want to put straight bars on but with the higher bars in the kit no problem. I mounted my clocks on the underside and flipped over the headlamp brackets to drop the light. Once...

    Thruxton vs New Norton 961?

Norton I put a deposit down with Norton UK in December 2011, I saw it as a long shot chance and heard all the horror stories about lost deposits and broken promises but remained hopefull. Norton has just anounced they have appointed a dealer for Australia, they are going through...

    Wide Thruxton Rear Wheels

I have a 5" excel rim and 170 rubber on my Thrux, looks great but is probably too much, it really rolls about the rear, a bit like riding a unicycle. If you can get a dimpled rim (may need to go to 5.5 inch) you won't have to buy new spokes. I used "Ash's spoked wheels" in Brisbane. YMMV...

Aha - now I get the tank size thing...

I am getting about 235 out of my 08 EFI Bonnie but this has increased when it was new I was only getting about 210, now with 22,000 kms its 10% higher. Only mods, and they were almost at day 1, is a KN filter in the standard airbox and TORS. Daily 20km each way comute in all weathers, I have a...

    Amal Carbs

Simple question has anyone installed mark 2 Amals on a hinkley twin? Just for giggles and grins I suspect a 36mm smooth bore would drop on. http://amalcarb.co.uk/mk-ii-concentric-series/smoothbore/base-line-specifications/36mm-bore/lh-36mm-4-stroke-mk-ii-smoothbore-carburettor.html Then a...

    adjusting preload

Tec Shocks As a response to fernandos1 and the TEC shocks. I took a chance and bought a pair of Thruxton length ones for my Bonnie to replace a pair of Triunph standard Thruxton shocks. They made the Triumph OEM units look great. The TEC shocks were over sprung and under or just un...

    2012 scrambler head pipes

You will have to plug the sensors holes in the headers and make up some sort of hanger at the rear. Skiddy

    covers

LMT I see your point but as it's not possible to see both sides of the bike at the same time I can live with it. Maybe a nice piece would be a finned primary with a hydraulic clutch as Mule has done. Skiddy

    covers

I have a set of the polished ones. Well made and solid, yes I think they look cool and thats all they do - look cool. The Sprocket cover may be lighter than standard but there are lighter options out there. Skiddy

    new goodies

Avon's TT, Let us know how you get on with the RR's I have had 8,000Km's on mine the front looks new but the rear has a really weird wear patten its sort of scalloping on the tread and its slipping of white lines and over tar strips. It was good for the first 5,000 km's but seems to be...

    removing rear disc

Stars and Bars I am afraid its a little embarrassing, I let the rear pads wear down to the backing and heavily scored the discs. It is difficult to see pad status without dropping the caliper. My only excuse is that I commute in heavy traffic and tend to use the rear brake to modulate speed as...

    removing rear disc

I'll let you know Friday when they arrive. They are odd in that they have a shallow cheese head, hence the shallow socket that strips. Also a a short shoulder before the threaded section. You are not going to get them at the fastner shop. Skiddy

    removing rear disc

Two part numbers Ordered the bolts this morning, they are in country (Melbourne) and I should have them by the end of the week. There are two part numbers for the pre 08 hubs that have "J" spokes and the newer ones with straight pull spokes. Quoted A$15 each, I told them it was outrageous...
