Charging Issue - Stator Voltage Check

Ok...Finally found some other references of the voltage across the leads of the Stator at idle. Looks like 15-20VAC at idle is ok. I'm going to take this as the case unless someone else counters this. Regards, Joe

Charging Issue - Stator Voltage Check

Thanks. I think that test looks for a short to ground on one of the phases. I'll check that but I don't think this is the case. I will likely order one of the MOSFET Reg/Rec from regulatorrectifier .com ......unless someone has another recommendation for where to order from. Do you...

Charging Issue - Stator Voltage Check

Hello Folks, Done lots of searching and just need a few clarifications while troubleshooting a charging issue on my '07 Bonneville. Classic charging issue where battery goes dead after long period of riding. Pretty sure the Regulator/Rectifier has gone kaput, but here are my voltage numbers...

Any suggestions on removing a damper rod?

You can also use a broom(wooden) handle inserted into the fork to hold the damper in place while turning the bolt. Cheers, Joe

Thanks for the input. 1 Turn out on the screws had absolutely no effect. I'm going to pull the carbs again and will clean and blow out all lines and inspect slide diaphragms and needle jet placement, etc... I'm probably going to put the 40 pilots back in to see if that makes much of a...

    Strange behavior...

I'm still voting on an Slow Jet / Idle Circuit Issue that hits when going from a high running rpm to nada with the clutch pulled in. Could be an electrical issue... but I would think that more random running scenarios would happen. This is something that I have had happen to my bonnie when...

    Strange behavior...

Does ever happen under engine braking (ie. when you're still at Higher RPMs)? Or only when you go from a high RPM to a Low RPM? How low is your idle set? Regards, Joe
