Well, fortune smiled upon me recently and I was given a barn loved 72 Daytona. :vp:I, however, am in need of a way to get it from oregon to Houston. I've never shipped a bike before and have no idea what to expect or where to begin my search, other than google,:stupid: I'd much rather some first or second hand tales of shipping a motorbike.

I have shipped cars with Auto Go Transport (AZ), but never a bike. I was very happy with them. Not sure what they would charge for a bike.

I've used http://www.keyboardmotorcycleshipping.com the last couple times I've needed shipping. No problems.

Used http://www.alliedmotorcycleshipping.com yrs ago to ship Bonnie from Maine to New Orleans. No problems.

I haven't used http://www.uship.com/motorcycles/ but have heard they are good.

If you are picking up or shipping to a residential address make sure the company is ok with that. I think some only want to pick up or ship to someplace with loading docks. Not 100% sure about that but it's something to verify.

Good luck.

Cheers mate, If it's palletized I can have it delivered to work where I have a forklift, but I'd rather not, because then I have to figure out how to get it to the damn house!

Welp, she arrived. Went with motorcycle shippers a division of JC motors, one of the cheapest I found and, super easy.

Man I would love to have a project like that in the garage. She needs some good lovin' but you can see the potential laying there no question...nice bike!

that's a cool bike man, and you can't beat being given one! I picked up a '69 Daytona this summer, it hadn't run in about 10 years. I cleaned the tank and carbs, put some fresh gas in it and it came to life on the 6th kick! it's a blast to ride around on, so far all I've had to do is rebuild the forks since they started leaking after I rode it around a bit

Here it is in an all Brit bike and car show in September, with my Bonneville America behind it

Cheers y'all. Yeah she needs a good bit of work. Gonna start at seeing if the motor turns over/if the tranny is operable. Get those bits sorted. Thinking about pulling everything and getting the frame painted. Gonna tear into her and see what elbow grease will help clean up before I start getting new bits. I know the tank will have to be cleaned out and coated, carbs will need a complete rebuild and prettied up as well. Here's to eating ramen for a while I reckon.
