i removed the rear fender, and went with the LED cat eye. bobbed the front fender. deleted the airbox, and slapped some pods on. painted the bucket and turn signals. shortened the bars, adding brown posh grips and new adjustable levers. wrapped the tank in white gloss vinyl. threw some decals on the tank. shaved the seat a bit, and tuckNrolled the cover. then power coated the controls rims and hubs. finish off by wrapping the pipes and removing the cans... pretty simple. trolling forums really helped source parts and get some great tutorials... how to's etc..

so far the worst experience by far was powdercoating the wheels. re-lacing sucks! i still have a slight hop in the rims, and need to get them true.. otherwise this bike puts a HUGE smile on my face. i now have a 1960 gs150 (vespa) 1976 CB550 (honda) and 2005 Bonneville (triumph).. small, medium, large. no desire to supersize.

not at all... i picked up a used seat off CL, and cut it down. i wanted a lower profile so i cut some of the excess plastic that folds down, and took some foam off the top. you have to add a little padding to do the tuck and roll, so its about stock height, but slightly slimmer in width, and a little shorter in height. i found a good bonnie brat blog where a guy details all the steps necessary with pics... made it really easy to follow his lead.

i made a few mistakes with fabric... buying online is difficult :) the swatches never look the same in person. otherwise if you are good with a sewing machiine, or know someone who is... its a total DIY.

60wasp,

The forum seems to have broken links to your project bike photos. I would love to see your work if possible!
