    Where is everybody ?

I'm pretty much a "newbie" here, but check in a few times a week. My bike is currently the way I want it, so haven't had the need to post for advice. Sure helped me get where I am with it, and was much appreciated. I'm in dead center NY state, and we're planning to head South to Newburgh to...

#&*&!!#% Front Turn Signal Bull SH*T!!!

Having only a speedometer, the D9 option is not an option, albeit beautiful function and style. I bit the bullet, and drilled and tapped the frame gusset just forward of the tank and used 1/4x20 stainless allen bolts and 1/4x 3/8 spacers to secure the switch to the right side. It was basically...

#&*&!!#% Front Turn Signal Bull SH*T!!!

NO GO on the Joker or any other bracket. Unless I completely pull the entire ignition bundle - plug and all, from the headlight shell, there's no way there's enough cable length for an aftermarket mount. I've seen other bikes with the switch mounted on the frame gusset just in front of the tank...

#&*&!!#% Front Turn Signal Bull SH*T!!!

Well.....looks like I'm leaning towards the Joker bracket. I want to get inside the headlight shell and confirm that there's enough slack to make a comfortable fit, otherwise I'll see if D9 has a viable solution. I've seen his work and it looks to be second to none. Your bike looks sharp as a...

#&*&!!#% Front Turn Signal Bull SH*T!!!

Anyone have a suggestion for mounting next to the speedo - I'm "Tach-less", so there is plenty of room. The Joker brackets get a lot of press and praise - is there a similar piece made for single gauge bikes??

#&*&!!#% Front Turn Signal Bull SH*T!!!

I like that idea - my bike is the standard "Plain Jane" Bonnie with no tach. I've been riding since 1972, so I don't miss or need it to tell me when to shift. I'm going to take a closer look up top - thanks for the hit TC.

#&*&!!#% Front Turn Signal Bull SH*T!!!

No doubt that's the only viable solution. I wish that I'd dry fit everything prior to having to castrate my key!! I have access to some nice aluminum flat stock, and will pull the switch and make a template or 2 and fabricate a bracket. Primer and paint, and not spend the $$$. I will of course...

#&*&!!#% Front Turn Signal Bull SH*T!!!

I installed the black Maund Lucas tail light with rear turn signals. My son is an electronics wizard, and made me a perfect wiring harness, and that went pretty well. Finally had a decent day here in Central NY so I took a vacation day to clean up the yard and install the FRONT turn signals...

Carb Tuning Advice - Update !!!

I'll bet the TTP and DNA combined with the Dominator exhaust is giving you more flow and the 140 is the right main for your set up. I agree that there are a lot of different schools of thought on how to make these bikes "wake up" from the stock product. Beautiful day here today, and I went out...

Carb Tuning Advice - Update !!!

Installed the 19 tooth primary sprocket, but the weather here in central NY state has been cold and rainy - not ideal for a road test. From where the bike was performance wise when I got it initially to the way it runs now with the relatively basic mods is night and day. If it steps out there...

Carb Tuning Advice - Update !!!

I've taken a few 25 mile or so rides - our rural roads are actually pretty well maintained here in central NY, and are a combination of hills - twisties, and some nice long straightaways. I am really enjoying coming out of a nice sweeping curve and being able to twist it on in 3rd gear and hear...

Carb Tuning Advice - Update !!!

Appreciate the expertise Mike - the 138 mains I removed bogged the engine to the point that I couldn't pass a slow moving vehicle safely, and the 125's plus 1 shim have done wonders. How much of a step up would you go from 125?? 128 maybe? At 130, it seems that I'd be closing in on the ones I...

Carb Tuning Advice - Update !!!

Thanks PieMan - I didn't think there actually was any more to be had. I ordered a 19 tooth primary sprocket, and will see how it cruises on the open road. I also installed a Dart fly screen, and can see an improvement with that as well. Much different than my 70's Triumphs !!!

Carb Tuning Advice - Update !!!

Received my main jets today. Many Thanks to Mike Selman - great to do business with as I'm sure a lot of you already know. Anyhow, I installed the 125 mains - added 1 shim to the needles - with the handy "D" tool I ordered, turned the pilot screws out 3 and just a tad more on the left carb...

    Carb Tuning Advice Please!!!

Still waiting for my jets to come from BellaCorse - hopefully by the end of the week, but I pulled the bowls and think I may have found the problem with not being able to accelerate or have response near 3/4 to full throttle. I put the stock mufflers on as posted earlier, and removed the what I...

    Carb Tuning Advice Please!!!

BlueJ - point well taken! As I just want to have a moderate increase in performance for now, I think that eliminating the snorkel along with the air box baffle being already gone and having punched out my mufflers, moving up to 125 mains should hopefully afford me a decent upgrade from stock...

    Carb Tuning Advice Please!!!

Thanks bonZa - that's the direction I was headed in. Obviously, the aftermarket fitments are engineered to give optimum performance and it seems that the more I want to improve this engines capability, the more involved it gets!! I've seen some of these Bonnies that are "tricked out" with more...

    Carb Tuning Advice Please!!!

That leads me to another question: I removed the airbox baffle, and cut almost all of the "inner" snorkel (goes in the air filter) off. Should I basically eliminate the outer 2 chambered piece also ?? I've seen a few replacements that are kind of pricey, and wonder if it's necessary for tuning ??

    Carb Tuning Advice Please!!!

Alright - that's the kind of input I was hoping for!! Many thanks gents!!! Fortunately, there is a Triumph shop in Syracuse -about 25 miles from here. I'll start with 125 and shoot for 130 if need be. Appreciate the advice - this "new" (2007) Bonnie is a different unit than the 70's Triumphs I...

    Carb Tuning Advice Please!!!

I ordered 120 and 125 main jets and shims for the needles - also the "D" shaped tool for the pilot screws. I may find that I need to open the exhaust more, but from all of the posts I've read, the "Bafflectomy" with additional holes improves the flow. I don't want my bike to sound like a V-Twin...

    Carb Tuning Advice Please!!!

After my baffle removal, I did punch 6 - 1/4" holes in the next plate - 3 to start, and like how it sounds now. It had reverse cone megaphones when I got it, but I couldn't hear myself think at cruising speeds. Luckily the previous owner had the originals in perfect order. I got this one in July...

    Carb Tuning Advice Please!!!

Thanks Chris, I didn't do any carb mods at all, and was actually looking for a good starting point. Bike starts and idles really well, and pulls strong unless I grab a handful. I guess I'll have to pull the float bowls, and see what's in there. If the main jets are changed, do the pilots have...

    Carb Tuning Advice Please!!!

Hello All, New here, but not to Triumphs. Had a '73 TR7RV and a '70 T100R - both sold, and recently acquired a 2007 Bonneville. I removed the air box baffle, and the air injection system. I also performed the "bafflectomy" on the stock mufflers and it now sounds as it should !! Here is the...
