I've got the Dominator touring on my SE and I like them, but I had Staintunes on my '02 and they really did have a nice tone. Where you live, I'd get the Staintunes.

I just wish the factory would make an accurate speedometer, the one on my SE reads 72-74 at 60 mph, checked with a gps. A simple gear change would be nice.

I can see the board racks, but a 3 hour drive for surf in Texas? It's bad enough here in Florida, but we do get some decent surf fairly often. Every time I was near the Gulf it was flat city.

I used to take my board on my 1960 BMW with a sidecar all the time, I made some foam cushions cut to match the board and side car mounts and a few bungees and viola! it worked great.

pipes I put a set of the Triumph Performance Dominator touring slip ons on, had the remap done, added a K&N, removed the snorkel, and used British Custom's low Ai removal kit. The bike runs like a scalded dog, (sorry pup),and still gets 47-48 MPG in town and in the 50's on the road.:cya:

air injection I'll let you know soon, 'cause I'm having my dealer install one from his shop as soon as my pipes come in, that way the warranty will still be valid. I do know that they put a resistor in.

Has anyone removed thier air injection on a fuel injected motor, my dealer has a kit for them, but the guys at Bonneville Performance told me that it really doesn't give you any real benefit, so save you're money. I'd like some iput from somebody that has done it, or has a little more knowledge...

Rail yes, the Triumph one is smaller, but still easily accessible for the passenger.

I put a set of Icons on my SE with stand bonnie lenth, they made quite a large difference in how she rode, the ricors in the front didn,t hurt either. She now handles and rides much better, good luck.

That engine was designed toe air-oil cooled, just as the early GSXR Susuki and many other machines.I think you should think about the design of the engine and not just "looks". Saing that, it's you're engine and maybe you've got more money for a rebuild than most of us. You're choice, mate.

I have th triumph long haul removable screen and the blast hit me right at the eye level with alot of buffeting, I got a laminar lip and it made all the difference in the world. You might want to call them and get some advice, they were great to work with.

I put a Corbin lady and gunfighter on mine and I'm pretty happy with it.

I had staintunes on my '02 and loved them, if you can swing the extra cash I think that they are well worth the money.

Tell you're friend to be a little patient, Triumph is supposed to have a centerstand for the SE sometime in January, it will be worth his waint.

You said the Magic word, "basic riding course." I'm not commenting on you're skills, but try taking some more advanced riding courses and practice alot in preferrable empty parking lots. It really helps, and the rear can be a bit touchy so take care.

I'd try charging you're existing battery and raise you're idle , Auto Zone sure isn't where I'd go for motorcycle advice or assistance. All the want tot do is sell you a battery, also some tachs read a little different than you are really turning over. That battery, or charging issue is...
