Decoating Forks??

I've seen on here a lot of members have removed the black sections from their front forks. (I'm not sure the right terminology)

Can anyone give me an idea of how to go about doing that? I think it makes the bike look fantastic.

You have to remove them, right? What's that process like? When sanding what grit and type of paper and when buffing do you use a compound and a buffing wheel?

I have been using model paint with a clear coat and all the friggin time it could have been black nail polish.......great idea dahhhhhhhhhh

Nail polish works good on the handlebar clamp and tank badges too,as well as all the rusty Allen head bolts on the bike. Hell,you can even pin stripe with it on a properly prepared surface.
