If you were going to buy a camera, and the cost was not a concern (not my $), but Ease of use was a HUGE FACTOR, Durability was A factor, Video Quality was important, Kayaking, Biking, Cycling, Surfing, Hiking, Fishing, Skiing, BBQ'ing & F'n were the activities, and the availability of accessories (various mounts, in particular), support, warranty, etc. from the manufacturer was important -

What would you buy?

I'm resurrecting this thread (I learned how to use Search!) so maybe some opinions/technology have changed in the mean-time?

I'm leaning GoPro, but...? Thanks, as Always. Trebo

I'd vote Go-Pro, we use them on some racecars and they work really well. This past weekend over at the AMA race almost half the bikes had at least one one there. They work really well.

Does anyone remember that post on here about a key-chain camara, I think it taped about 10 minutes, and was about $15.
I think they posted a utube of it's quality?

For the price+quality, can you really beat a Go-Pro?

Hit and run driver arrested due to video

http://blog.sfgate.com/stew/2012/04/27/berkeley-bicyclist-hit-run-video/?tsp=1

Lot of benefits to these cameras - hit and run driver arrested. Hit is at 2:38 of video.

Police arrested an Oakland man Friday in connection with a hit-and-run crash in Berkeley in which a bicyclist’s mounted camera filmed the car that knocked him to the asphalt.

Michael Patrick Medaglia, 42, who is on probation for possession of a switchblade, allegedly ran down two bicyclists Wednesday on Tunnel Road. One of the cyclists, “Bruno,” filmed the crash and uploaded a video showing a black sedan drifting into the bike lane, clipping the cyclists and driving off.

Neither rider was seriously hurt.

Medaglia, the registered owner of the car filmed by the bike cam, called Oakland police after the crash to report that his car had been stolen, investigators said. Oakland police found it Friday morning, and after examining the car, Berkeley officers tracked down Medaglia at his residence at the Jack London Inn on Embarcadero West, said Berkeley police Capt. Andrew Greenwood. They arrested him without incident, police said.

Medaglia was booked on suspicion of felony hit and run, possession of heroin, being a felon in possession of ammunition and a probation violation.

Now that I have one of these, can anyone tell me the best way to get high quality uploads to youtube? Do I have to export to the computer in some special way to get better than 240p resolution? Because that is pretty crappy viewing...

I have a Mac, btw, so it should be simple if I only knew the trick

Do I just trust the mounts with a $300 camera suction cupped or stuck onto the bike, or do I rig a tether?

Some are suctioned cupped - some are U bolt clamped. Either way - I've never had an issue. 120mph tested (closed course. professional rider. do not try at home.)

Anyone know how to take all the individual files created using the timelapse feature and create a video?
