Xmas Night Ride 17/12/10 Sydney

NIGHT RIDE 17/12/10 SYDNEY (posted in social group but dont think anyone uses it)

Its been awhile since we done a Night ride to the City and I for one would love to do another. Those interested please let me know.

Plan is: Meet 6pm at macca's Eastern Creek City bound on M4. Park up at Harrys Cafe de wheels for a drink at Fresco's and of course a Tiger pie at Harrys. Stop at Kings X and then finish at parramatta's Sidewalk cafes.

Hope we can get a few for this one as it is always a fun ride.

Harry's Cafe de Wheels is an iconic pie cart located in Woolloomooloo, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on Cowper Wharf Road, near the Finger Wharf and Fleet Base East of Garden Island Navy Base, opposite the Woolloomooloo Bay Hotel.

As the years passed, 'Harry's Cafe de Wheels' gained new fame as a tourist attraction. A visit to the caravan became a 'must' for visiting celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Robert Mitchum and Marlene Dietrich. In 1974, Colonel Sanders stopped at Harry's and enjoyed the food so much that he ate three 'pies and peas' while leaning on his walking stick in front of the caravan. A picture of Sanders taken during the visit still hangs in the caravan today.

Harry's specialises today in the same basic food that was popular back in the 1940s, such as pies and mushy peas. During the 1970s Harry's introduced hot dogs, mostly to appease the American sailors.

Dont think I need to tell you what Kings X is famous for ;-)

Sounds like a cool time. However the ride from my house would be a long one. Start without me, and enjoy the ride.

mushy peas? is that like a split peas soup only drier?

Basically there boiled peas that are then mashed. Pie comes with mash potato and mushy peas. Then they make a dip in the middle on top to pour gravy in.

Its really good and very filling. 17 bikes (21 people) attended this one. Was an awesome ride and we made it in city as a pack which is pretty good.

However the ride from my house would be a long one

Was agreed by all that we are doing this again next year so if you leave now you should have plenty of time to get here :)
