I have a set of EPCO SS muflers on my 05 Thruxton
they are straight through glass packs and are a bit loud for me (OK I'm gettting older)
I'm considring installing the can opener type short baffles in them or a smaller diameter glass packed silencer into the main core
has anyone tried this ?

i spoke with a local Brit bike guy yesterday at BritJam and he told me that adding additional baffles to a mufflerr usually screws it up. there may be reduction in sound but there will also be drastic reduction in performance
its best to buy a properly engineered quite muffler

I agree…..I have messed with most mufflers for the Bonnes and Thrux's. Its one thing to pull baffles out but IMHO adding baffles to an existing design is counter productive.

i tried a pair of the 4" can opener type baffles
no good, just changed the tone did not reduce the decibels
I put the stock muflers back on. At first I thought they were way overweight but they weigh only 7.2 pounds each, not bad
I must be getting old as i like a quite bike much more now
I may leave the stock mufflers on and rejet
