Thoughts on Triumph off road mufflers

Those are Triumph's own brand of Off Road Mufflers. Also known as TOR's (Triumph Off Road). Probably the next step up in volume, I believe they look the same as stock. You might be more interested in Norman Hyde Toga's or British Custom Sleepers - a little louder, shorter, and slightly upswept.

I just took mine off last week, put on a set of NH Togas, and will never go back. The TOR's are a little louder than stock, but really raspy. The togas have a much deeper sound.

Had a look at the item selling on ebay msc66.
Says they're off an '03 Bonnie with no rust. I assume he meant no visible rust on the outside. Take it from me, there might be rust internally. There might not be, but if there is rust it will be in the baffles and you won't know this unless you have them in your hot little hand and shake them.
Of course you won't be able to do that with ebay.

If you want my advice, for what it's worth, go for the BC Sleepers or NH Togas.

BTW, TORS are slightly shorter than stock mufflers and are NOT swept up.

Lots of love for Togas and Sleepers. I love my Tors because they aren't as loud. Loud for me is fun but only in limited doses. The stock exhaust are longer...much heavier and suck for sound and flow. As far as tonal quality, I prefer raspy mentioned to farty. If you like loud, look elsewhere.
HTH.

If you can get them for a decent price (under $175) I'd buy them. I just bought some used TORs for $125 but they are badly scratched, but I wanted to try them before dropping the full nut without knowing if I liked the sound and performance.

Thanks for the input guys. I think the tors have the sound I want and the price is certainly a factor but the upswept pipes just look sportier to me. Was also looking at these. Good price. Anyone have any experience with them?

You will save a nickel with those options which are generic silencers made to fit our bike with an intermediate pipe and two clamps per side...not that elegant. New Bonneville is an excellent supplier and I won't buy anything else from the other guy and many share this view and will leave it there.

Another option if you like the upswept look which I kind of like as well and to me looks even better with reverse cones which are about the best flowing pipes for our bikes....TPUSA makes an exhaust called Dominator Tourings which are basically a kinder and gentler Pedator aka Dominator Sport...same designer. The tourings have a livable noise level and that great reverse cone growl which is distinctively different than the peashooter sound. Again my fav of these bikes are Tors for the look and sound and decent but not great flow but Staintunes (money no object) sound fantastic and the Dominator tourings sound great and look nice as well.

As you can see from all the posts already, pipes are totally a personal preference. So the pipes you like might not be my cup of tea. I love my TORs, but that's totally my preference. There's a sound clip of five different pipes on this site somewhere. You should listen to that. It will give you an idea of what aftermarkets sound like.

I will say this. Anything you get will be an improvement over the stock pipes.

These are a little raspier than the NH Togas. Togas are a tad deeper/ mellower. Not too loud.

I had TORs and switched to Togas back in 02.

Best sound of all IMHO is Staintune but $$$$. Mellow. Throbby.

Btw TORs on a Thrux are nice . Confusing innit?

Well I decided that if I could get 'em for 150 including shipping I'd do it but apparently I way underestimated their value. Oh well, I'll just keep looking or save my $ until I can afford a new set.

Your best bet will be to post in "Parts Wanted" and keep bumping it up every couple three weeks... eventually someone will ditch their TORs for something even more free-flowing but you're still probably going to be north of $200 exclusive of shipping.
