Speedo trip button removal

I've bought alloy instrument cups to replace the black plastic standard covers. I need to remove the trip reset button to fit into the recess in the new alloy cup. The button appears to be moulded as a single part with the black plastic cup. Any ideas how to remove the trip reset button ? Don't want to force it and possibly break it.
Any ideas gratefully received.

There is a tiny cross head screw holding it in place. You"ll need a small Phillips head screwdriver from an electronics type screwdriver set to undo it.
The trip reset knob is hollow you can't see the screw but poke the screwdriver down there and you will feel it. Be careful taking it out - it's pretty small and easy to loose.
I did it on a white towel so if I dropped it I could find it
