Recommended track pressures for Avon Roadriders AM26s

Hey all,

So I may finally take the plunge and track my Bonneville at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway. I have Avon Roadriders AM26 tires but have no clue what the recommended track pressures should be. Can anyone that tracks their Bonneville or Thruxton with these tires help out and let me know the cold and/or hot pressures for the front and rear?

Not sure on our bikes, but when I did one with my old Monster, I dropped 4lbs in each and was very careful for a few laps till they were warm.

tooblekain - not roadriders, but I'm running Avon Azaros F&R... an experienced racer (and triumph tech) with plenty of track time on a thruxton recommended 30/30 on my street tires... so far, seems to stick really well. Think Loxpump is on roadriders, also at 30/30....will second the recommendation of going easy until the tires warm up. Have fun, looking forward to some PICS!!! :D :D :D

Yep D9's right, ran my Roadriders with 30/30 and had no problems once they were warmed up and any tire on the track has to be warm. Used every inch of rubber right up to the side wall. And the track does have a way of getting that rubber to bubble.

Depends on your ambient temp. The colder it is the lower the pressure you run because you need more carcass flex to get heat in the tire. As the day heats up you need to be monitoring your pressures directly off the track and before you go on. Your rear pressure will be a little lower than your front. When i ran roadriders and sport demons i was at a 29 front and 27 rear. You are looking for a 3-4 lb growth on the track.

Cool...thanks for the suggestion guys. Im a total track junkie with my Daytona 675 and know the pressures for almost all tire manufactures but never had experience with Avons.

I definately know about the colder temps and the need to lower the pressures and vice versa; and apply the 3-4 psi gain for trackdays but I always need to know the starting point.

Since the planned trackday will either be on Thanksgiving weekend and/or December 4/5. It may be cold for sure at Willow Springs International Raceway (since its in the high desert) and it may be in the 70s at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway on December 4/5. 30/30 sounds easy enough to remember and good to try. If it turns out to be cold, I'll try 29 front 27 rear and see how that feels and measures.

One more question though...how long did it take to warm up those tires? I know its dependent upon ambient temps and track surface temps but Id like to get a rough idea. I know how to easily "feel" for it on my 675 and with different tires but since its my Bonnie Im kind of a bit cautious and have never really felt ive pushed the limits of Roadriders other than through twisty mountains and canyons.
