I live in the Chicago area and this past Memorial Day (May 31, 2016) I rode with two buddies to visit the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. We met at Motor Cycle Center, a Triumph dealer located in Villa Park, IL, and then headed south on Illinois Route 83.
David was on his new 2016 Bonneville T120, Lee was on his 2013 Bonneville, and I was on my custom 2008 Bonneville Black.
We meandered south through towns such as Hinsdale, Burr Ridge, Lemont, Joliet and finally Elwood.
We arrived late morning in time to take in part of a program that included patriotic music performed by a local area VFW band, readings, speeches and aerial fly-overs of vintage military airplanes.
We were also able to locate the final resting place of one of Lee's former bosses who had served in the Vietnam War.
It was a beautiful day to ride with friends to a beautiful place and pay respects to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom.
