How do I remove the valve cover?

I've already removed the tank, the coils, the valve cover bolts, but the cover is stuck tight. I've tried bumping it with a rubber mallet, and gently working around the edges with a screwdriver but no luck. I don't want to damage the head. Any ideas?

A few more bumps with the rubber mallet ought to loosen it off. Try working from opposite sides. Bump Bump!

If the rubber mallet won't work, try a block of wood and steel hammer for a firm bump.
