Filling up 2014 America LT

Just bought a 2014 LT used ,When putting gas in it spits back on the tank. never had this on any other bike .there is a little rod in the neck to keep nozzle from going in to far. Is this normal on this model??

I had that on my 2009 America and my current bike, a 2013 Speedmaster. There are a number of thoughts as to why that bar is there - either to protect the fuel pump in the tank from the gas nozzle or to protect against fuel siphoning. It's a hassle for sure, and I get the same spray back on certain pumps as you mention. I have found that some pumps are easier to deal with in terms of pulling back the rubber shut off piece, and some pumps pump gas slower, which helps.
