I seen another member on this forum bobbed his, and it really got me going. Sawzall and flat black paint...here I come. Ted is an old school bike builder and he said he would give me some cool old ideas.

I really like the last pic the best.

I've seen that last one somewhere before, can't remember where. Myself, I like the 3rd one down the best. YouTube has a lot of really cool Triumph bobbers.

I too like the look, but having owned more than one hardtail, Evel, I'd tell you the ride is brutal. I don't know anyone who can ride one for more than an hour or so, springed seat or not. On a rough road, a bobbed hardtail rides on the ragged edge of controlability. Do yourself a favor and think long and hard about this before plugging in the sawzall...

Well My dad stoped me dead in my tracks.NO altering the bike in that manner.!!! He said " I paid for it, and I dont want to see you butcher it" I got a bit peaved at this. I wanted to build my OWN creation. Hmmmm. So,..there goes my bobber project.

Take a look at some of the "readers rides" here or a site like www.mecatwin.com for inspiration. With a little imagination, there's no need to "butcher" the bike to have something cool and individual. Keep everyone happy. ;)

Cheers,

Pikey.

i love hard tails a ton. but i had a good buddy that decided to hardtail his clean 78 oil in frame truimph. my dad and i tired to talk him out of it but he did it anyways. after he was done he rode it 4 times and sold it for less than he bought it for not to mention all the money he put into it to hardtail it. i still wanna build one, but want to do a xs650

I had two Dressers back in the day and both were hardtails. You had to be careful what you put in the saddlebags. ANYTHING the least fragile, like thermoses were toast inside of 50 miles.

But the ride was OK since there was a huge comfy seat that rode on a piston and if you were two up you popped the spring accessory into the seat.
