Raleigh Triumph dealer closing

I heard this weekend that Capital Triumph/BMW is moving and no longer going to be a Triumph Dealer. Anyone else hear this? I guess that makes the dealer in Fayetteville the next closest.

It doesn't surprise me actually. They've reduced the size of their showroom a couple of times over the past year. When I went to buy my bike from them they wouldn't even go down $400 on the price even though I put an envelope of cash on the guy's desk. He said "It doesn't matter to us". Then it sure didn't matter to me; I walked. This was after the manager walked by and asked the sales guy if I was going to buy the bike because he was going to lunch. Did I mention I was the only customer in the showroom?

They had free apple pie during the open house.

it's the one time I have ever found them useful. (my experiences with them aren't good, so I refuse to deal with them - on anything).

I'll miss the free apple pie during the open houses....

Damn,

Any idea when this will be taking place? So for warranty I'll have to go to Fayettnam? Damn!!!

Anyone have an independent mechanic that will work on the new Triumphs in the Raleigh /Cary area?

Thanks,

Joel

come over to Greensboro. They have actually hired a new 'Triumph Specialist' and are shifting focus to the Triumph brand.

BMW is still #1, with Duc's #2, but at least they have all of the used bikes out of the Triumph showroom.

I sure do wish that Triumph could support a solo dealer that isn't in a major population center We have two here in Denver and both of them have other brands. I keep thinking Triumph is the Redheaded Stepchild in both of them.
I guess I shouldn't bitch so much since there's two to choose from.

I just heard the other day that the Triumph dealer in Orlando and the one in Longwood are both closing. They are part of the same chain (RideNow). I haven't had the best of experiences with them anyway, but now Daytona is my nearest dealer, about 65 miles. For the sake of accuracy, I haven't heard this from the dealer itself, but from an independant shop in the area.

I feel like I bought a Moto Guzzi!

There are riders from your area that come to Myers in Asheville. Also the head mec. Steve from Myers is now working for Moto-Nexus in Hendersonville NC:headbang2:

WOW! A 3.5 hour ride/drive for motorcycle service?

Does that come with a "massage"? If so are there Happy Ending or Full Girlfriend options?

I rode over to Capitol BMW this morning and spoke with Jon Ross. This is what I found out:

1. Capitol BMW is moving to a new location that should only be a couple of blocks from where they are now. I didn’t really ask where that would be.

2. Capitol BMW is no longer a Certified Triumph Dealer as of August 01, 2009. Triumph has already taken all the bikes and apparel away. This means they can NOT take care of Triumph Warranty issues. There are three Triumph dealers in the not so local area that can: (Fayetteville, Greensboro, or Roxboro – hour to and hour and a half away). It seems the new Owner of Capitol BMW and Triumph came to a business impasse that could not be resolved, and that was that.

3. Jon and his staff will still take care of existing customers regarding routine maintenance and inspections, etc… They can no longer get Triumph Parts from Triumph, but they can (and will) get them from a certified Triumph dealer. They will also continue to support Triumph customers regarding aftermarket sales (such as the BC Predators I ordered this morning). I’ve been treated well there, so I’m still doing business there. We'll see what the future holds.

That’s all the news that’s fit to print. Overall, no big deal unless you have a warranty issue. My personal guess is that the Triangle Area is too big a market not to have a Triumph Dealer. I’m betting that we will have another dealer sooner than later.
